BMW FSC Codes For Map Updates | Bimmer Navigation

FSC Codes

BMW & MINI FSC Codes for Map Activation – Always Genuine Code Generated Against Your VIN BMW Navigation systems require a VIN-specific FSC (Freischaltcode) to activate map updates. The FSC is a 20-character alphanumeric activation key generated from your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN. It is used to authorize map installation for the corresponding head unit and confirms that the update is licensed for the specific vehicle and region.. Every BMW and MINI navigation head unit has a fixed factory map type: the FSC code you need depends entirely on which system was installed at the factory. The wrong code type will not activate, even if the USB is correctly formatted and the map file is present. Bimmer Navigation is an independent BMW and MINI Navigation specialist providing genuine FSC codes for map activation across all systems, from CIC to MGU. We supply genuine activation codes. We are not affiliated with BMW AG. What Is a BMW FSC Code? A BMW FSC code is a unique key generated against your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN. It tells your head unit that the map version being installed is licensed for your specific car. Without it, the map file will not install , regardless of USB format or file size. The Fsc Code is VIN-locked from the moment it is generated. It cannot be transferred to another vehicle and is non-refundable once produced. This is how BMW’s Navigation licensing works not a restriction we add. FSC codes are either one-time or lifetime. One-time activates the current map release only. Lifetime activates every future release for that vehicle and it will stored in BMW database for lifetime and whenever a new Map version is released you only need the latest map data and your lifetime fsc code will remain same and you just have to enter it when you BMW prompted for update , you have to enter it via idrive controller to complete the Navigation Map update. Which type is available depends on your head unit platform. Which BMW FSC Code Do I Need? The FSC code you need is determined by the map type factory-installed in your vehicle. The table below matches every BMW and MINI navigation system to the correct FSC code. If your system is not immediately clear, the iDrive check section below this table will confirm it in under a minute. Navigation system iDrive map version display FSC code required Lifetime available CIC with Premium maps PREMIUM [Region]  [Year] e.g “North America Premium 2023” or Europe premium 2025-2 Premium Maps FSC Yes CIC with Move maps MOVE [Region] [Year] e.g “Europe Move 2024” Move Maps FSC Yes CIC with Motion maps MOTION [Region] [Year] e.g ” Europe Motion 2024″ Motion Maps FSC Yes NBT NEXT [Region] [Year] e.g ” North America Next 2025 “Europe Next 2025” NEXT Maps FSC Yes EVO ID4 Road Map [Region] [Year] e.g “North America Evo 2025-2” “Europe Evo 2025-2” EVO ID4 Maps FSC Yes EVO ID5 / EVO ID6 Road Map [Region] [Year] e.g “North America Evo 2025-2” “Europe Evo 2025-2” EVO ID5/6 Lifetime FSC Lifetime only EntryNav (first generation) ROUTE [Region] [Year] e.g “Europe Route 2025” Route Maps FSC Yes EntryNav2 WAY [Region] [Year] e.g ” Europe Way 2026-1 WAY Maps Lifetime FSC File Lifetime only MGU iDrive 7/8/8.5+ LIVE [Region] [Year] /  JOY [Region] [Year] e.g “North America Live 2025-4 “North America Joy 2025-4” LIVE and JOY Lifetime FSC File Lifetime only For CIC Navigation System vehicles read this before ordering: CIC is a head unit platform, not a single map type. The same CIC head unit was supplied with Premium, Move, or Motion maps depending on the navigation package ordered at the factory. A Premium FSC code will not activate on a CIC vehicle factory-fitted with Move maps. The iDrive check below confirms which of the three applies to your vehicle. If you are still unsure, enter your VIN at checkout, we confirm before generating anything. How to Check Your BMW Navigation System The map version string displayed in your iDrive identifies your Navigation system exactly. Find it using the path for your head unit below. CIC:  E-series and early F-series, typically pre-2014: NAV → Options → Settings → Position and map version NBT :  F-series, typically 2013 to 2016: NAV → Options → Settings → Position and version history → Check version EVO ID4 / ID5 / ID6 — late F-series and G-series: NAV → Options → Navigation system version Some EVO ID6 builds: NAV → Settings → Map version EntryNav / Route : F-series base nav: NAV → Options → Settings → Navigation system version EntryNav2 / WAY :  F-series and G-series base nav: NAV → Options → Settings → Navigation system version MGU iDrive 7:  G-series from approximately 2021: Maps → Settings → Location and version → Map version MGU iDrive 8 and 8.5+ : Navigation → Settings or three-dot menu → Map version What the version string tells you: “PREMIUM” = CIC Premium. “MOVE” = CIC Move. “MOTION” = CIC Motion. “NEXT” = NBT. “Road Map” = EVO (VIN distinguishes ID4, ID5, ID6). “ROUTE” = EntryNav. “WAY” = EntryNav2. “LIVE” = MGU European. “JOY” = MGU North American. If the iDrive check does not give a clear result , for example, on vehicles near a production switch year  enter your VIN at checkout and we identify the system before generating. One-Time vs Lifetime FSC Code A one-time Fsc code activates the current map release. When BMW releases the next version, a new code is required. A lifetime code activates every future release for that vehicle and region without new Fsc Code. WAY, LIVE, JOY, and EVO ID5/6 are lifetime only  there is no one-time option for these Navigation systems by BMW . For CIC (Premium, Move, Motion), NBT (NEXT), EVO ID4, and Route, comes with both options onetime and lifetime. If you plan to keep the vehicle for more than 12 months and BMW releases maps more than once per year for your system  which EVO and LIVE both … Continue reading FSC Codes
