 Which Vehicles Have MGU Navigation

MGU (Media Graphics Unit) is BMW’s current head unit platform. It runs as MGU 18 on iDrive 7 and MGU 21 on iDrive 8. Both use the same Live/Joy map format and the same FSC code.

Live covers Europe and most global markets. Joy covers North America. Your region selection at checkout determines which code is generated. A Live code will not activate on a Joy-spec vehicle and vice versa — select your region carefully at checkout.

The MGU interface has no “Options” button in the navigation menu — the layout is different from older iDrive systems.

MGU vehicles may also receive ConnectedDrive OTA updates during an active subscription. This FSC code method provides the latest available release independently of any subscription.
